30 days minus weekends

A 30-day period always contains four full weekends, eight weekend days, plus up to two more depending on the starting weekday, so 30 calendar days hold 20 to 22 weekdays. Holidays on a weekday come off that.

Example: 30 days from Monday, June 1, 2026 runs through Wednesday, July 1, 2026. It contains 8 weekend days and Juneteenth, leaving 21 business days.

Common periods without holidays

Before holidays, the number of business days in a period depends only on the weekday it starts:

  • 7 calendar days: always 5 business days
  • 14 calendar days: always 10 business days
  • 30 calendar days: 20 to 22 business days
  • 60 calendar days: 42 to 44 business days
  • 90 calendar days: 64 to 65 business days
  • 365 calendar days: 260 to 261 business days

Seven and fourteen days are always exact, because every whole week holds five weekdays. Longer periods carry a few extra days whose weekdays vary, and US federal holidays on weekdays come off the totals above.

A 90-day example with holidays

The 90 days after Tuesday, September 1, 2026 run through Monday, November 30, 2026. They contain 26 weekend days and 4 federal holidays on weekdays (Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day and Thanksgiving), leaving 60 business days, fewer than the 64–65 a holiday-free 90 days would give.

Where this conversion is useful

Use it when a period is set in calendar days but the work happens on business days: a 30-day payment term, a 60-day notice, a 90-day project window. The answer tells you how many working days you really have. When a rule is written the other way round, in business days, use the business days to calendar days converter instead.

Payment terms and notice periods

Terms such as net 30 or a 30-day notice period are usually written in calendar days, so every day counts toward the 30. When the last day falls on a weekend or holiday, some agreements move it to the next business day and some do not; the agreement itself says which. The converter tells you how many working days you really have to act inside the period.

How it counts

The window starts the day after the start date and ends on the date N calendar days later, which is included. Every Saturday, Sunday and holiday inside the window is removed; the rest are business days.

Frequently asked questions

What is 30 days minus weekends?

From today, the next 30 calendar days hold 19 business days once weekends and US federal holidays are removed. Without holidays it is 20 to 22, most often 22: 30 days are four full weeks (20 weekdays) plus two extra days, which add 0, 1 or 2 weekdays depending on the day you start.

How many business days are in 2 weeks?

Ten, if no holiday falls in the two weeks: 14 calendar days contain exactly two Saturdays and two Sundays, whatever day you start on. Each weekday holiday takes one away.

Is the start date counted?

No. The window is the days after the start date up to and including the end date, so “30 days from June 1” runs from June 2 through July 1. This matches how most notices and deadlines count days.
