When you need a days-worked count

    • Employment history on forms. Applications sometimes ask how long you worked somewhere. Enter your first and last day to get days, work weeks and calendar days.
    • Contractor invoices. Bill by the day by counting the days you were scheduled in the period, minus any days off, and multiply by your day rate or hours.
    • Timesheets and leave checks. Compare scheduled days against what was recorded, or see how much of a period was taken as days off.

The tool counts days from your schedule. It does not know your employer’s policies, so check any official record against your own documents.

    How the count works

The calculator walks every date from the first day through the last day, both included, and counts the ones that fall on a day of the week you work. From January 1 to June 30, 2026, a Monday-to-Friday schedule has 129 workdays. If your employer closes on the 11 US federal holidays, choose US Federal under Options and the count drops to 124.

For a six-day week, tick Saturday too. November 2026 then has 25 workdays instead of 21. A Sunday-to-Thursday week, or any other pattern, works the same way.

    Days off

Add specific dates you did not work, such as vacation or sick days, or simply enter how many days you took off. A date is only removed if it falls on a scheduled workday: a day off on a Saturday in a Monday-to-Friday week changes nothing, because that day was not counted in the first place.

    Half days

The count is in whole days. If you took half days off, either lower the hours per day so the hour total comes out right, or add one day off for every two half days. Keep a note of which method you used, so the same rule applies the next time you fill in a form or an invoice.

    Part-time and shift schedules

Untick the days you do not work. A Tuesday-and-Thursday schedule in November 2026 has 8 workdays, and at 6 hours a day that is 48 hours. For rotating shifts that change week to week, run the calculator once per pattern and add the results, or enter the shifts you missed as days off.

    Hours and weeks

Hours are days worked times your hours per day. Work weeks are days worked divided by the number of days in your working week, so 21 days on a five-day schedule is 4.2 work weeks. Calendar days count every date in the period, which is the figure some forms ask for as the length of employment.

    Frequently asked questions

Does the count include the first and last day?

Yes. A work period includes the day you started and the day you finished, so both dates are counted when they fall on a scheduled workday. From Monday to Friday of the same week is 5 days worked.

How many workdays are in 2026?

With a Monday-to-Friday week, 2026 has 261 workdays if holidays are worked, and 250 if the 11 US federal holidays are taken off.

Why are holidays not removed by default?

Many jobs work on public holidays: retail, healthcare, hospitality, transport and plenty of private offices. Counting holidays as worked is the safer default for an employment record. If your employer closes on federal holidays, choose US Federal under Options.

How do I turn days worked into hours?

Enter your hours per day under Options. For example, November 2026 with US federal holidays and one extra day off is 18 days; at 7.5 hours a day that is 135 hours.
